Kukua means born on a Wednesday in the Mandika language of West Africa.

The Kukua weekly class is a very laid back affair!

We drum every Wednesday evening in the hall from 7 till 9 with a break for refreshment (Tea, Coffee, Hot Chocolate, Cuppa Soups and biscuits are provided and members are welcome to bring beer and wine etc)

It is a mix of chilled out drum circle drumming along side learning traditional West African rhythms which we play together as one big band.
There is a mix of abilities in Kukua, from complete beginners to accomplished drummers.
We hold regular special events such as the Mid-Summer Solstice fancy dress party, the Halloween fancy dress drumming by candle light party and we also perform at various events such as Langley fete and our annual Christmas party as well as Kontaani Drumfest.

We often have guest tutors over to teach us such as Sidiki Dembele, Iya Sako and our friends from Drumroots.

Kukua is like one huge family! Folk of all ages, from all walks of life come together to simply drum.
I'm exceptionally proud of this wonderful, friendly, welcoming bunch of happy people, some of whom have drummed with me for the past 12 years and some are just starting out on their drumming journey.

Newbies are made very welcome and encouraged and supported by all.
If you would like to join this band of happy drummers please get in touch via the contact page. You won't regret it!

Weekly Subs - £10 (only payable for the weeks you can attend)
